Líquido incoloro de olor fuerte y agradable. Fórmula = C3H8O. M = 60.10 g/mol. Funde a -89 ºC y hierve a 82 ºC (760 mmHg). Densidad = 0.785 g/cm³ (25 ºC). Inflamable. Soluble en agua y en disolventes orgánicos de cierta polaridad. Se utiliza como disolvente y en técnicas de separación como HPLC (v.). Toxicidad elevada; no debe ingerirse. Nombres alternativos: alcohol isopropílico, 2-propanol, iPrOH. En inglés: isopropyl alcohol, 2-propanol.
